After a brief phone interview, I was able to understand their pain points, their vision, and formulate a plan of action.

Black Friday was right around the corner, and this provided a perfect opportunity to treat subterra’s regular buyers to a great deal, but to also spark interest with one-time buyers or those who’ve been inactive.

Flash Sale

To keep on brand, we decided to launch a single email flash sale. In 99% of cases, I’d recommend at least a multi-layered campaign, but we tested the waters…

Messaging

Here’s what the business owner wanter: quick and punchy copy. “Imagine a goth kid with an attitude, who also roasts killer coffee.”

The sale was driven home with purpose-driven copy, along with multiple Call-to-Actions for a juicy offer. I handled the design efforts as well.

This is where things get good.

The email was released on Black Friday and sales started flooding in almost immediately. It worked! This single email resulted in the most sales ever for a twenty-four hour period. I know that there was still meat on the bone for a full campaign, but subterra had their work cut out for them and production was in full swing.
